The interval depends on the nature of the products the company produces. If the company produces auto mobiles, a model launched this year may be able to pay back for next ten years. In case of mobile phones, however, it is possible that a set launched today may be considered outdated only after a time span of few months. It depends on the nature of a product.
The currently existing high level of competition amongst the web sites makes the launching of new products more important to the success of a web based business. As more and more products are created and launched by a company, its market value improves and its brand equity becomes impressive. This is the reason that almost all companies with a good market share depend a lot on their research and development departments. This department is busy all the year round in producing those products which can appeal to the customers.
If you want to make profit through a new product launch, you need to study your target market carefully. You need to know the trend of the market. The market itself tells the companies which kind of products they want. Produce that kind, or first create a demand for your product and then launch it. Read the demand and supply cycles. Calculate the break even points and after all this brain work and going through product development stages, you are ready to launch the product. Back it with a proper promotional campaign and it will be able to produce a lot of money for you.
